The Story

UNO Attack! launched in 1998 (some regional reissues cite 1999/2002) as one of the earliest electronic UNO spin-offs, released internationally as UNO Extreme in the UK, Canada, and Germany. Its signature feature is a battery-powered card launcher that sits in the middle of the table, replacing the standard draw pile: instead of pulling one known card, players load the deck into the launcher and press a button, which fires out anywhere from zero to a full handful of cards at unpredictable moments, with lights and sound building suspense. The launcher has been redesigned across several re-releases, including Mega Hit and themed tie-in editions with custom launcher shells.

Rule Twists vs. Classic UNO

Everything below is an official printed rule unless flagged otherwise.

The card launcher replaces the draw pile

Whenever a player would draw, they instead press the launcher's button. It ejects a random number of cards (typically 0 to 7, or up to the Attack-Attack maximum) which the pressing player must collect. There is no way to know in advance how many cards will come out.

Randomized penalty amounts

Because the launcher — not a fixed draw count — determines the outcome, even the game's Draw-type action cards resolve unpredictably: the target player presses the launcher rather than counting out a known number of cards.

Because UNO Attack! has been reissued multiple times (original 1998/99, 2002, Mega Hit 2019, 2020-21 refresh) under slightly different names for the same functional cards (Wild Hit vs. Wild Attack-Attack vs. Wild Extreme Hit), always check the instruction sheet in your specific box — this entry reflects the most commonly documented modern printing.

Special Cards & Action Rules

Tap a card to reveal its exact ruling.

Skip one per color · 8 in deck

Next player loses their turn.

Reverse one per color · 8 in deck

Reverses the direction of play.

Discard All one per color · 8 in deck

The player discards every card in their hand that matches the color of the Discard All card played.

Wild colorless · 4 in deck

Playable on any card; the player names the next color.

Wild Hit 2 / Wild Attack-Attack colorless · 4 in deck

The next player must press the launcher button; naming used varies by print run (Wild Hit 2 in earlier editions, Wild Attack-Attack in Mega Hit editions). The presser collects whatever the launcher fires.

Wild Hit 4 / Wild Extreme Hit colorless · 4 in deck

The next player presses the launcher button; naming varies by edition (Wild Hit 4 vs. Wild Extreme Hit, introduced circa 2010). Like Wild Hit 2, the actual card count is whatever the launcher randomly ejects.
